Obituary of Elton Charles Jason [January 04, 1941 - July 08, 2019]

Elton Charles Jason, age 78, of Carson City, passed away Monday, July 8, 2019 at Country Friends Assisted Living.

Chuck was born January 4, 1941, in New Haven Twp., to the late Forrest and Doris (Miller) Jason. On July 27, 1985, Chuck married Lura Mae Rentschler at First Congregational Church in Carson City. They both loved dancing together for many years.

Chuck was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His church family and his Country Friends family were also very dear to him. It is not an understatement to say that Chuck just loved people. He spent much of his time helping others, and, for many years, met daily with his special group of friends for coffee. Chuck had a rosy outlook on life and a servant’s heart, always ready to lend a hand or an ear to family or friends.

Some of Chuck’s finest memories were spent with family at Camp Wildwood, a family cabin which he was instrumental in completing and is now the center of family gatherings.

For most of his life, to anyone who knew him, Chuck always had a story to tell, a catch phrase, or a gospel hymn, country, or humorous song to sing!!!

Chuck was a “Jack of all Trades, Master of None,” having worked many jobs over the years, mostly in construction. He graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. At the end of his career, he mowed lawns around town with his dog, Nellie.

Chuck is survived by his three children, Bonnie Schafer, Brian (Chris) Jason, and Brent Jason; two stepdaughters, Renee (Jim) Hulbert and Cheryl (Robb) DelPrado.; 11 grandchildren, Benjamin, Alyssa, Curtis, Megan, Brandon, Jordan, Mariya, Adrienne, Amy, Taylor, and Emily; several great grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Peffers, Lillian Tillitson, Marcella Brauher, and Dianna Vasquez; sister-in-law, Agnes Jason; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Doris Jason; wife, Lura Mae Jason; son-in-law, Daryl Schafer; sister, Arlene Robinson; brother, Frank Jason; and brothers-in-law, Jack Peffers, Dick Robinson, and Larry Gerig.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 20, at 2:00 pm at Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home in Carson City, with a Visitation from 12:00 - 2:00 pm, with Pastor Mike McAlvey officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Country Friends Assisted Living.
